History

The establishment of the Inaburra School can be credited to the Menai Baptist Church who originally wished to establish a Christian school in Menai. The church identified a need for a Christian school in the area due to its rapidly growing population and the lack of a Public High School.

A portable building was erected on the Billa Road site for the use of the preschool and church in 1980, and in 1982 Inaburra officially commenced as a secondary school in temporary accommodation in the Christian Education Centre at Gymea Baptist Church. The first Principal was Rev. Max Knight - fondly remembered by students for his kindness.

The name Inaburra was chosen as it is an Aboriginal word meaning 'dream'.

The Inaburra Board work closely with Parents, and engage in regular consultation. A spokeswoman for the school said the board had a "good relationship with the school community". She said this was because the board dealt directly with parents.

Curriculum

Inaburra School is a registered and accredited school, teaching the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12. Students undertake all NAPLAN tests, sit for the School Certificate Examinations in Year 10 and the Higher School Certificate in Year 12.

Inaburra has three sections:

Middle School & Senior School are together, but are both separated on the Inaburra Campus from the Junior School.

Trivia

The Inaburra Middle School boys' uniform was worn by Simon Hall, a member of the Australian comedy trio Tripod during a skit on the Australian comedy show SkitHOUSE.
